Randy Ochieng sparked the Buccaneers to a 35-19 victory over Spartans in a Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league clash at Kaloleni on Sunday.

The winners bolted to an 18-5 half-time advantage and never looked back. Ochieng led the rout with eight goals and Vincent Odhiambo added five.

“We came into this match expecting to bounce back after losing to NYS yesterday (Saturday),” said Ochieng.

“Being our first outing after a long break, most of us are not in form but we are working on that.

“It was a good time to lose. It was a good lesson. We now know what to work on.”

Spartans, who had little to offer, were led by Andrew Odoyo's five goals as Wyckliffe Kinoti added three.

In Saturday’s 29-28 loss to the Anthony Naburuck-coached NYS, Ochieng tallied 11 as Dennis Kiptanui scored eight. Mathew Ngumi and Colins Odera nailed seven and six goals respectively.

Technical University of Kenya (TUK) down 11-14 at halftime, choked Black Mamba 27-25 in their backyard.

Polycarp Rakama nailed eight goals and Julius Nganga seven for TUK. Bethwel Koech, Morgan Juma and Charles Malema bagged five each for Mamba.

Inspired, a team composed of  Hospital Hill students, suffered a close 30-25 loss to Hunters.

Strathmore University had to dig deep to blank Nanyuki 26-20.

In a varsity ladies' duel, Daystar University beat Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) 23-18.

Esther Ayuma managed eight goals and Esther Nangani had seven. The Juja side were pepped by Esther Gathare’s five.

Rising Star stopped Daystar University 27-25 as Sheila Atsachi, Lucy Khamala and Dorcas Weya netted five goals each.

Zipporah Amayi and Nangani’s contribution of nine and five goals respectively did not help.
