Prominent Sauti Sol member Bien-Aime Baraza has come out to explain why the Boy Band split up.

Speaking at the In My Opinion Podcast, Bien said the Sauti Sol band did not separate because they have been together for a long time.

"We separated because we needed a new job after doing the same job for 20 years. We needed new experiences and new challenges and we got to a point where we were getting a bit complacent and we wanted to try out something new," he said.

The Band comprised vocalists Bien, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi, along with guitarist Polycarp Otieno.

Bien said that despite their split up the members are still involved in each other's projects.

He said they have been going for therapy sessions for two years to help them manage the breakup and their aspirations.

The musician added that it was time for him to explore other things and be different.

The boy band announced their breakup after 18 successful years in the industry.

Some of the group’s popular tracks include songs on their recent album 'Midnight Train' such as 'Suzana', and' My Everything' alongside other singles including ‘Live and Die in Africa’, ‘Africa’, ‘Nerea’, ‘Shake Yo Bam Bam’, and ‘Unconditionally Bae’ among many more.

In November, the band held their last performance at the SolFest in Uhuru Gardens.

It was a celebration of Sauti Sol’s extraordinary career, leaving an indelible mark on the Kenyan music scene and the hearts of their most loyal fans.

After the concert, the band separated and focused on personal projects.

Since then, Bien has released an album themed 'Alusa Why Are You Topless?'
