Champions National Cereals and Produce Board will battle Gicumbi of Rwanda in the finals of the East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF) Club Championship on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium.

The two teams booked their tickets into the semis after the Kenyans shut out Rwanda Police 28-25 while Gicumbi dismissed Uganda Prisons 33-23 in the other semis.

The Millers got this tie off to a flying start on a shot by Nicholas Okore as they took a 3-0 lead they never relinquished. They maintained the gap and went on to build a six-goal advantage.

NCPB took a 15-9 advantage at the breather but remained unperturbed even after the Rwandese charged back to close in at 18-16 hardly ten minutes after the resumption.

When eagle-eyed goalkeeper Victor Otuoma tossed in a long-range lob, NCPB rolled away to a 25-19 edge and they did well to romp to their third successive finals.

"We played against a team that beat us by one goal Dar. Our game plan was to have a three-goal advantage and take it from there," offered NCPB coach Bryan Mathews."Today,  I texted some of my players but in the finals, we will use all our resources. My two goalkeepers also played a good role in the win."

Robert Maraga scored seven goals and Robert Malui bagged four for the Kenyan champions. Nshimiyimana Alexis hit the losers' five.

Gicumbi dominated the other semis leading 16-8 at halftime before finishing the job with ease. Akayesu Andrew scored six goals while Muhawenayo Jean and Muhumure Elyse each had six.

NCPB and Gichumbi were placed first and second from Pool A while Uganda Prisons and Rwanda Police made it from Pool B respectively.

In the ladies' games that were played on a round-robin format, champions Nairobi Water Queens and NPBC will fight it out in the deciding tie.

Water Queens thrashed Jeshi La Kujenga Taifa (JKT) 36-18 behind nine goals from Cecilia Katheu and six a piece from Gladys Chilo and Brenda Musambai.

NCPB on the other hand were forced to a 21-21 draw by KDF who saw Sharon Mulei miss a sitter and the winner Naomy Muyoka locked the duel with a last-gasp penalty.

"I knew I had to score it. I was not nervous. I just had to compose myself to score and give our teams hope for a title tomorrow," said Muyoka whose strike kept the Millers hoping for a title.

Muyoka and Joan Akinyi recorded five goals each for the winners while Caren Lutengeya managed nine and Sarah Wasike four for the soldiers.

It was the end of the road for the General Service Unit (GSU) and Equity Bank as they picked up losses in their last games of the group.

The bankers were crushed to a 32-31 defeat at the hands of Evergreen and GSU were downed 29-27 by  Rwanda Police in the other game.

Fixtures Saturday: Nkajja v JKT (from 9 am), Rwanda Police vs Uganda Prisons, Nairobi Water v NCPB amd men's final; NCPB v Gicumbi.
