A governor from Western region is said to be seriously considering hiring his predecessor as an advisor. The ex-county chief is broke and has been frequenting his successor's office. Those in the know say the former county boss has been pushing for tenders, something his successor has not been keen to offer. But it has now emerged that the governor has agreed to give the man a job in his administration.

A top ministry official is on the radar of detectives for allegedly obtaining millions of shillings through fictitious travel reimbursements. The official, we are told, has claimed money for numerous undated foreign trips and unexplained expenses, allegedly backed by falsified documents. In one incidence, the official allegedly claimed almost Sh1 million for taxi services while on a trip in a European country. An insider said anti-graft detectives launched investigations after some staff at the department petitioned various agencies to look into the issues and tame the official.
