Ever-green Michael Gongolo has shifted his focus to the last Kenya Scrabble leg set for Kisumu next month.
Over the weekend, Gongolo dominated the penultimate meeting in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua county.
Gongolo said his main objective is to lead the national team, Word Warriors, for next year's East, Central and Southern Africa Scrabble Championships (ECASA) next year.
The Acacia club player said that the victory was a good sign coming after winning the Mashujaa Day masters championships title, maintaining the temple to Ol Kalou.
“It was a tough championship but I still won it. I am planning for the next event as I seek to end my year on a high,” said Gongolo.
A total of 24 players took part in the Premier Division. Gongolo won 14 out of 18 games (+899 points), followed by former chairman Bernard Amuke with 12 wins while David Kimani bagged bronze, also with 12 wins.
Achan Nichole won the intermediate division with 13 wins, followed by Githinji Kuria and Owuor Mark with 12 wins each for the second and third positions respectively.
Mercy Mutahi bagged gold in the open division followed by Mwancha Nick and Gachohi Daniel.
