The film industry is set for a major transformation with the expected injection of more funds to improve

quality and quantity of productions across Africa. The Pan African Federation of Filmmakers is leading efforts in mobilising $200 million (Sh20 billion) from financiers over the next two years to fund the continent’s nascent audiovisual and cinema sector. The funding plan forms one of the key discussions at the upcoming Ambika Afrika Safari Film Festival to be held from October 12 to 19.

Speaking at a media workshop ahead of the conference, FEPACI executive director Jane Murago-Munene said African Development Bank will invest $100 million (Sh1 billion) to set up five modern regional centres of excellence that will offer production and post-production facilities.
