Partnerships and the use of technology will inform the next phase of business expansions in the region industry players have said.

Samsung head of Consumer Electronics East Africa Sam Odhiambo, says that continued changes in consumer behavior have meant that companies must now innovate, partner or risk shutting down.

End users are continuing to adopt smart home technologies as they look to make their homes more efficient, convenient and secure.

Hence, products in categories such as lighting, appliances, and home monitoring sensors and the Freestyle projectors continue to register growth.

He adds that the functional aspects of such products continue to draw the attention of end users to try these devices.

“While automation may reduce the need for manual labuor and shift some existing jobs to machines, entrepreneurs should strive to create new, more meaningful jobs The flights will be operated by a Boeing 787-9. employees. Interconnectivity of devices especially home appliances has been on the rise in recent times as demand increased

On average, households have 22 connected devices across kitchens, their living rooms and all the places in between.

Despite the growth in interconnected devices, 79 percent of customers polled said that interruptions from family members or devices while working from home is the most inconvenient occurrence they experience.

This comes on the back of the region recording 8.44 million smart home devices shipped across the region in Q4 2022 according to market intelligence firm IDC.

He points out that to tap into this growing market Samsung will work with leading partners across industries to create the most innovative, sustainable, and seamless experiences for its customers.

“This year, Samsung is looking to strengthen existing partnerships, as well as forge new ones with innovative companies in a variety of fields, including AI, health and fitness, automotive, and lifestyle,” added Odhiambo.

Developed by the Home Connectivity Alliance—a consortium of more than a dozen appliance manufacturers, including Samsung, Electrolux, LG, Resideo and Trane—the new standard aims to ensure large smart appliances from disparate brands can work together to deliver more convenience to consumers as well as to achieve goals such as energy savings.

The standard essentially means consumers will not don’t need one app for an LG refrigerator, another for a Samsung dishwasher and a third from a different manufacturer to control their washer and dryer.
