Cryptocurrency exchange platform-Binance has embarked on a series of training in Kenya to increase the adoption of blockchain.
This is an effort to enable greater financial accessibility for Africa with a focus on cryptocurrency.
The program is part of the countrywide crypto tour hosted by Bitcoin KE.
“Blockchain education is at the heart of our focus in the global market. As a blockchain infrastructure provider, we are committed to ensuring that more and more people have access to the right information about the workings of the ecosystem,” Director, Binance Africa, Emmanuel Babalola said.
He termed Africa an important market for Binance which sees a huge opportunity in the blockchain and its contribution to economies.

Its education series aimed at increasing crypto literacy in Africa, the Binance Masterclass kicked off last year in January providing education ranging from crypto trading to careers in the blockchain.
Since then, it has provided free crypto education to over 400,000 Africans. By the end of 2020, over 70,000 Africans were educated in the first year of the launch of the Masterclass.
It has since doubled down on its efforts, providing education resources to over 177,000 Africans in Quarter one 2021 and over 179,500 in Quarter two 2021.
The Kenya Crypto Tour started with market activation at three centres, two at the Technical University of Mombasa and One at Likoni Mall, and one at the Royal Court Hotel, Mombasa attracting more than 300 enthusiasts.
The event saw industry leaders, George Mwakisha (Binance lead, Kenya), Roselyn Wanjiru (Lead on-chain analyst, Utafiti) and Alex Matu (Advisor, Bitcoin KE) speak on fundamentals of blockchain and demystifying concepts about crypto.
The event also covered introduction to Binance (How to open your account and verify it), what is P2P (peer to peer) trading, how to buy and sell on P2P using Mpesa, how to purchase crypto assets, and transfer funds to spot wallet and basics of crypto trading.
On September 4, 2021, it hosted the "Grow Your Business with Binance P2P" event for crypto enthusiasts in Kenya.
The event saw approximately 1,300 attendees and so far has over 5,000 views.
On September 24, 2021, it hosted the first-ever Swahili webinar for crypto enthusiasts in Tanzania with over 613 live attendees and over 4,000 views on YouTube.
It continues to drive its education efforts in new regions, management says.
