First Assurance team led by their COO, Johannes Kitaka, during the Think Business Awards 2025. The company won six awards, including Best Insurance Company in Eco-System Partnerships & Cross-Industry Collaborations as well as Fraud Detection and Prevention Initiative – Underwriters.
First Assurance Company has been recognised as the best insurance company in eco-system partnerships, cross-industry collaborations, fraud detection and prevention in this year’s Think Business Insurance Awards.

The awards, which come at a time when the company is marking 95 years of existence, were among six awards the company received for its inventiveness and dedication towards customer service.

“Winning these awards during our 95th anniversary is both humbling and inspiring. They reflect the trust we’ve built over generations, the innovation we continue to champion, and the enduring partnerships we value,” said Stephen Lokonyo, Managing Director of First Assurance.

The company was also recognized as the first runners up – Medical Underwriter of the Year (Personal), second runners up – Claims Settlement (General), second runners up – Major Loss Award and second runners up – Most Customer-Centric Underwriter (General).

As part of its ongoing 95th anniversary campaign, the firm seeks to go beyond traditional coverage by accelerating digital innovation, streamlining claims processing, deepening customer engagement, and forging strategic partnerships.

The theme for this year’s awards was “Ecosystem Partnerships and Cross-Industry Collaborations: Shaping Kenya’s Insurance Future.”

"As we navigate 2025, Kenya’s insurance sector continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and adaptability. Our chosen theme reflects the critical role that strategic partnerships and collaborations will play in driving our industry forward," the organisers of the awards said.
