The Enterprise Cup semifinals take centre stage on Saturday after a one-month break.

Holders Kabras welcome Nondies to the Kakamega showground while KCB have a date with Quins at the Lion's Den in Ruaraka.

However, Kabras coach Carlos Katywa is worried his side might be rusty. They have been out of action since April's Kenya Cup final win over KCB.

Their would-be opponents in the early rounds, Mwamba and Strathmore Leos, failed to honour their fixtures, handing them walkovers.

“The boys are a bit rusty. Some played in the Super Series but a good number have not since April. It will be a tough battle against a good Nondies side," said Katywa.

The sugarmillers, unbeaten in 26 league and cup matches stretching back to February 2022, aim for a fourth consecutive Enterprise Cup title.

Katywa will go for a mix of experience and upcoming talent as he plots a way to the final.

Key players for the hosts will include Edward Mwaura, Eugene Sifuna, skipper George Nyambua and Jeanson Misoga in the forward pack.

In the backs, Griffin Chao, who had an outstanding Super Series tournament starts on the wing alongside Ntabeni Dukisa, Walter Okoth, Eric Cantona and Dan Angewech.

Katywa expects a competitive encounter against Nondies.

The two sides met twice in the Kenya Cup season with Kabras winning 40-0 and 37-9.

“This is a knockout game. It will be tricky for us having not played a competitive game for a month. The boys have had a good week of training and we hope we can execute,” said Katywa.

Nondies' run to the semifinals included a walkover over Mount Kenya Stallions in the pre-quarters before edging Mean Machine 12-3 in the last eight.

Head coach Oliver Callum will rely on his tried and tested combination of skipper Steven Odhiambo, Bonface Ochieng and Hillary Baraza in the forwards while Ian Mabwa, Moseti Nyaenya and Charles Omondi are in the backline.
