12 Kenyan side set for Kampala Dolphins swimming bonanza

In Summary

•The competition will bring together swimming clubs from Rwanda aged below 11 years and is set to attract over 600 participants

TWELVE schools are set to compete in the Kampala Dolphins Junior Swimming Championship slated for April 13-14 in Uganda.

The teams that have confirmed participation include Nova Pioneer, St. Christopher's School, Riara, School of the Nations, Potterhouse School, Moi Educational Centre and  Lukenya Academy.

Others include Seahorses Aquatics, Dashing Dolphins, Crawford International School, Golden Dolphins, Umoja Sharks and Nyahururu Elite.

The Kenyan teams will be up against top Ugandan swim teams including Gators, Seals, Gliders, Silverfin, Makerere Aquatics, Kampala Aquatics, and hosts Dolphins among others. 

The competition will also bring together swimming clubs from Rwanda aged below 11 years and is set to attract over 600 participants.

Private and International Preps Schools Sports Association (PIPSSA) coordinator Mark Gaya said the event will be a springboard for young Kenyan swimmers to showcase their talent for future international events.

"We want to test our young Kenyan swimmers with their peers from across the region and I believe they will be competitive,” observed Gaya. 

Uganda Swimming Vice President and championship organiser, Tony Kasujja said the Kampala Dolphins Junior Swimming Championship has been a notable event, showcasing the talents of young swimmers.

He observed: “The event plays a crucial role in the development of swimming in the region, providing a competitive and nurturing environment for young athletes to develop their skills and passion for the sport.
