Mombasa Heroes coach Hudheifa Mchulla has called on the Football Kenya Federation to facilitate the establishment of a beach football league.

Speaking after leading Heroes to a 5-1 win over Yanga during the second edition of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) beach games in Malindi.

Mchullah said: "Only a league will take us to the next level. We have good players but lack of structures means we can't play it at the top level."

"A league would provide the players with a platform to showcase their talent since the beach is what they have known all along. This would make it easy for the federation to select a national team."

Heroes are a concoction of players from different areas and this poses a challenge in developing cohesion. "My team is made up of players from Malindi and Mombasa. This is a challenge since they never get to train together.

However, they are experienced in beach football and my work is to provide tactical instructions.

"Mchullah, an artist by profession was taking charge of the team for the first time and believes they can only get better.

"Uganda does not have as good beaches but has a league alongside Tanzania and Zanzibar. That's where I want to go next for some friendly matches," he said.

Abdul Hafidh and Dennis Magige netted a brace each and Handhwala Harun added a goal in the win. Doctor Kaingu scored Yanga's consolation.

Meanwhile, after leading MTG to a successful title defence, Rita Jilani targets to play for the national beach team.

Jilani scored all of MTG's goals in a 4-3 win over Mombasa Olympic. Doreen Adhiambo, Christine Ouma and Amina Aroni netted for the silver medallists.

"My target is the national beach football team. I believe am capable. Remember, I scored twice when we won the title last year," she said.
