Kenya Sevens assistant coach Louis Kisia believes exposure is key for Morans in challenging for honours in future events.

Morans bagged a bronze medal at the Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

Uganda won the title with  Zimbabwe second. The three-day competition concluded on Thursday.

"We have accomplished our target of bagging a medal," said Kisia. "A good number of the boys played in an elite environment for the first time. To come away with a medal is great. We look forward to playing more tournaments in the future.”

He saluted the team for putting in a performance in a challenging environment.

"The humidity and heat was too much but we adapted well as the tournament progressed. Remember Morans were playing their first tournament since the Safari Sevens in November. Credit is due to them for how they performed,” noted Kisia.

The Morans got off to a slow start losing 10-5 to Burkina Faso and a 27-22 golden point defeat to Zimbabwe in their second match after the teams had tied 22-22 in regulation time.

Kisia's charges found their groove in the third match, humiliating Benin 55-0, hit Tunisia 40-7 and hosts Ghana 24-5. Kenya lost 21-14 to neighbours Uganda in their final match.

The Morans edged Burkina Faso for the bronze with a higher points differential of 97 against 78 with the teams tying on 12 points.

The West African outfit won four of six round-robin matches while Kenya won three.

A win earned three points and a loss of not more than seven points attracted a bonus. There was no reward for a loss of more than eight points.
