Champions Kabras to face Mwamba in Enterprise Cup opener next month

This will be the second meeting between Kabras and Mwamba this season with the Kakamega-based side having won 87-0 in the Kenya Cup in December last year.

Enterprise Cup champions Kabras open their title defence against Mwamba on April 20 at the Kakamega Showground

The three-time champions, who currently top the Kenya Cup log and are unbeaten in 25 matches since 2022, will fancy their chances of defending the crown.

Kabras head coach Carlos Katywa said the tournament presents an opportunity to blood new players in the side and look ahead to the Sevens calendar.

“It's a chance to see how younger players are in action and test them against good quality opposition. Our target will be to retain the title and we are looking forward to the competition,” said Katywa

This will be the second meeting between Kabras and Mwamba this season with the Kakamega-based side having won 87-0 in the Kenya Cup in December last year.

Last season's runners-up KCB Rugby will face Catholic Monks. Impala will clash with Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Nondies will play against MKU Thika. Mean Machine hosts the JKUAT Cougars.

Menengai Oilers and rivals Nakuru have withdrawn from this year's competition.

USIU will welcome Kenya Harlequin, African Nazarene will face  Northern Suburbs and Stallions will tackle Strathmore Leos.

Matches will be staged at Kakamega Showground, KCB Ruaraka, Impala Club and RFUEA Grounds on April 20.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 27 and 28, with the semifinals and finals set for May 4 and 25 respectively.

The Enterprise Cup is the oldest competition in Kenyan rugby history having been first played in 1930.
