Quins' coach Paul Murunga has urged his charges to improve their discipline ahead of the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru next month
The former Kenya Sevens and Under-20 coach has seen his side concede several penalties and yellow cards in the two opening legs at the Daley and Driftwood Sevens respectively early this month.
Murunga cited the case incident in the Driftwood Sevens quarterfinals where Jan Remke was given a red card for a dangerous tackle against Strathmore in a match they lost 22-0 to bow out of contention.
Remke is now serving a five-week ban meaning and will be unavailable for the remainder of the series.
"Indiscipline is an issue and it is affecting us. It's very difficult to play six against seven and this is an area we must improve as a team if we are to win a leg of the series,” Murunga cautioned.
The former Homeboyz tactician admitted the side that has several new faces has not gelled as a unit despite reaching the semis at Dala Sevens and the last eight during the Driftwoods Sevens.
"Individually, we have great talent and a good example is Amon Wamalwa who was named MVP in Kisumu. However, collectively, we are yet to play as a team and we need to work on that in the next few weeks and see what we can achieve,” the tactician noted.
However, Murunga said his charges can still win a leg of the series with four tournaments remaining.
"We have reached as semifinal and quarterfinal, and the only way upward is to go all out and win a tournament. I am confident my charges will deliver,” he noted.
He said he expects the series to throw up surprises when it resumes in three weeks' time. “Sevens is very unpredictable and anything can happen. However, we are relishing the challenge," he said. The Ngong Road outfit currently lie fifth on the log with 27 points.
Elsewhere, Rift Valley Lakers clinched the inaugural Futures Cup by beating Uganda's Kampala Giants 10-5 at St Christophers International School. Michael Okidia scored a brace for the Lakers outfit with the visitors scoring an unconverted try.
Western Hurricanes bagged the bronze medal match after beating Nairobi Lightning 12-3. In the semifinal, Kampala beat Nairobi Lightning 27-0 as Rift Valley beat Western Hurricanes 10-7.
