Kabras RFC have made two changes to the squad ahead of the Driftwood Sevens slated for this weekend in Mombasa.

Coach Felix Ayange has brought in Kenya Simbas' international Bryceson Adaka and Dan Angwech in place of Malik Habil and Duncan Abuyeka for the two-day rugby extravaganza at the Coast.

The Kakamega-based side reached the Dala Sevens final in Kisumu last weekend but fell short, losing  17-5 to rivals KCB in an entertaining final.

The tactician said the changes will freshen up the side as they eye the title at the coast. "The changes will give us new combinations and tactical plans as we look at going one place better in Mombasa," he observed.

Ayange, who played for both Shujaa and Simbas in the recent past, said lapses of concentration and failure to convert their chance cost them dearly in the final against KCB.

"Sevens is a brutal game. If you lose focus for a split second, you end up losing. We also did not take our chances against KCB  so we have learned our lessons and we hope to be better this weekend,” noted Ayange.

The former Quins player also expects to see an improvement in the set pieces for the sugar millers. “In our training sessions, we have worked on our scrums and lineouts and hope to be better in that regard,” he said.

The sugar millers have a date with Homeboyz, Kisumu, and hosts Mombasa in Pool B and Ayange said though it looks like a favorable pool on paper, he is not taking anything for granted.

"We will take one game at a time. This event is unpredictable and we are not underestimating any team in our pool," said Ayange.

Ayange will rely on Kenya Sevens internationals Kevin Wekesa, Brian Tanga, Jone Kubu, and Barry Robinson alongside Lameck Ambetsa, and Matthew Osimbo among others in a star-studded squad. The Kenya Cup champions finished sixth last year in the tournament.
