Monari elected Kisii Sports Club golf captain

Monari beat George Mainye after garnering 17-11 votes against Mainye to emerge the winner.

Adrian Monari is the new Kisii Sports Club Golf captain.

Monari beat George Mainye after garnering  17-11 votes against Mainye to emerge the winner. 

Outgoing captain Jared Mogeni, who has served for the last two years, did not defend the seat

Joseph Ogweche was elected the vice-captain and Andrew Nyanusi the greenskeeper.

Ogweche, who plays off handicap 18, was elected unopposed while Nyanusi beat Charles Aburi after garnering 15 votes against Aburi’s 12.

Job Mandere, Josephat Simba, and James Onchwari were elected as committee members.

Joan Mitei was elected the lady captain and Lydiah Momanyi the vice lady captain. Eliza Buyeke is the junior’s convener. Mitei takes over from Sophie Ongalo while Momanyi takes over from Mitei.

Monari thanked the golfers for electing him as their captain and promised to serve diligently. “This is not my win. It’s the club’s win because we have conducted peaceful elections devoid of any drama,” said Monari.

He added: “During my tenure, I will support golfing activities and grow the game. I also promise to ensure the golf course is in a good state and well maintained.”

He said his committee will seek to attract sponsors for golf tournaments at the club.

Club secretary, Lawrence Nyangena, congratulated the newly elected officials. “I wish to express our sincere gratitude to the new officials for their willingness to serve in these important roles within our golf community,” said Nyangena.

Nyangena asked golfers and club members to extend their full support to the newly elected team. “Let us strive to uphold the values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence that define our club,” said Nyangena.
