Over 30 professional golfers have signed up for the Kiambu Captain’s Prize Pro-Am tournament set for this weekend at the Kiambu Golf Club.
The tournament, which will mark the end of CPA Mike Nyangi’s tenure, has attracted both professional and top amateurs in hunting for a share of the Sh500,000 prize kitty.
“This will mark the end of my tenure after serving the club for one year and I am expecting a big field to battle for the title,” said Nyangi, who also served as a treasurer at the club before becoming the captain last year.
“The Sh500,000 will be shared among the top 20 finishers in the tournament. We will have about 100 players yet our course can accommodate 130 maximum,” said the CPA.
Apart from the cash prize, there is a Volkswagen Golf R Variant awaiting a hole-in-one winner.
The tournament tees off on Thursday through Saturday.
Erick Ooko, Daniel Nduva, George Felix, Bonny Kosgei, Alfred Nandwa, Tony Omuli, Simon Njogu, Robinson Owiti, Jastas Madoya, Dennis Saikwa, Samuel Njoroge, and Jacob Okello are among the pros who have signed up for the tournament.
Shem Orwenyo, David Wakhu, Kopan Timbe, Dismas Indiza, Kevin Mabele, Richard Ainley, Isaiah Omwoyo, Nelson Simwa, John Wangai, Edwin Mudanyi, Mike Kisia, John Mburu, James Karanja, Jeff Kubwa, Abraham Galgalo, and Joseph Waweru are also in the mix.
