Ombito wins 15th NCBA Series leg in Kakamega

, Ombito fired a total of 39 stableford points to run away with the title during the 15th leg of the national series.

In Summary

•Fidel Wasike won junior title on 27 points as his mother Janet Wasike went home with guest prize on 35 points.

•Nyanza’s Albert Ajonyo was the men’s winner on 37 points while Julio Omukuta won the overall guest prize on 40 points.

Gregory Ombito took advantage of the home ground, to win the NCBA Bank tournament at the par 72 Kakamega Golf Club during a tournament dominated by Nyanza golfers on Saturday.

With top five players qualifying for the national final in December at  Karen Cub, Ombito fired a total of 39 stableford points to run away with the title during the 15th leg of the national series. 

Playing handicap 14, Ombito sunk pars in all the 18 holes despite dropping a few shots along the way to victory. He started on a high note, firing 21 points on the inward nine and 18 points on at the outward nine. 

In other categories, Rosemary Angote (38) won the ladies prize, beating her vice chairman Beatrice Shikuku to second on (37). Home player Jimmy Akhonya defeated Sanjiv Walia on countback to take home the men’s prize.

Immediate captain Jack Songwa won the first nine prize on 20 points as John Muhanji, on 21 points, was the second nine winner.

Angote ( women) and Evans Manono (men) were the longest drive winners while Sanjiv was the nearest to pin winner.
