Kenyan international Kenneth Muguna tops the list of players dropped by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) champions Kenya Police FC ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

The former Gor Mahia man had a great season with the law enforcers, playing a pivotal role in their historic KPL title victory on the back of clinching the FKF Cup during the 2024/25 season.

The experienced midfielder, who previously featured for the defunct Western Stima, joined Police from Azam FC in 2023 and had a stint at Albanian side KF Tirana.

Muguna, 29, thanked the club’s management, led by CEO Chris Oguso, for allowing him to play for the South C-based side and said he was proud of his achievements.

“I joined the club with the dream of winning the League. I am happy to be part of the group that made it possible to win the League and the FKF Cup in my 2 years at the club. As I say goodbye, Kenya Police will remain a special club in my heart. Maybe one day we’ll cross paths again, but for now, adios,” said Muguna through his social media pages.

The experienced trio of Jesse Were, Francis Kahata, and Duncan Otieno were also shown the door after the expiry of their contracts.

Otieno, who was on his second stint at Police, leaves after two seasons, having been relegated to the bench by head coach Etienne Ndayiragije.

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Francis Kahata was also deemed surplus after three seasons, having joined from Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

Experienced marksman Jesse Were will also be club hunting after cutting ties with Police, having joined from the Zambian side Kansanshi Dynamos last season.

Police, who sold their star boy Mohammed Bajaber to Tanzanian giants Simba SC on Monday, July 28, 2025, will beef up their squad with strong replacements as they brace for a tough 2025/2026 season.

The KPL champions, who ended Gor Mahia and Tusker FC’s local football dominance, will be seeking to defend their League title and also qualify for the CAF Champions League group stage.
