Ex-Kenya international Innocent Mutiso thinks Harambee Stars' lack of self-belief could hinder their progress in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

Mutiso spoke during an interview on Citizen TV Sports reviewing the team's progress in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The former Gor Mahia player said coach Engine Firat must lead from the front.

"The coach must instil confidence in players and make them believe they are as good as their opponents," he noted.

"When you start trusting a player, it is unlikely that he will disappoint because your words as a coach are bound to inspire him."

He, however, noted that players must take their chances when opportunities arise.
