Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry has warned his charges to step on the gas pedal and secure maximum points in their next league encounter against Nairobi City Stars.

K'Ogalo will be facing their high-flying city rivals at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday in a vicious Kenyan Premier League top-of-the-table duel.

The record Kenyan champions sit pretty at the apex of the log with 44 points, seven clear of the second-placed Simba wa Nairobi.

McKinstry has urged his talent-laden squad to hammer away indefatigably for maximum points that could widen the gap to a massive ten points.

"We have endured a loss and a draw in our last two matches which have merely served to jolt our title charge this season. That explains the importance of winning our next tie against City Stars," McKinistry remarked.

"We are not expecting an easy encounter considering the fine form our opponents have displayed this far. They are not placed second by fluke," he added.

Gor had enjoyed a ten-point lead at the summit of the log until a shock 3-1 loss to Kenya Police at the Police Sacco Stadium a fortnight ago brought an abrupt end to their flawless run in the league.

The upset was not made any better by a barren draw against Ulinzi Stars in their last encounter at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

In other matches set for the weekend, Kenya Police host struggling Shabana at the Police Sacco Stadium, Nairobi on Saturday. Murang’a Seal have a date against Bidco United at St. Sebastian Park in Murang'a.

Nzoia Sugar will hope to collect their fifth win of the season when they dare Bandari at Sudi Stadium, Bungoma.

On Sunday, third-placed Posta Rangers tackle Ulinzi Stars at Moi Stadium, Kasarsni.

KCB will hope to bounce back from their heartwrenching loss in their last encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz as they take the war to the doorstep of city rivals Tusker at Ruaraka Grounds, Nairobi.

The brewers head into the encounter buoyed by a massive 4-0 win they registered over hapless Shabana last weekend.

Kariobangi Sharks will flex muscles with Talanta at Utalii grounds in Nairobi as Kakamega Homeboyz lock horns with AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega. Sofapaka hosts Muhoroni Youth at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi.
