Nicholas Muyoti says new Nairobi City Stars signing, leftback Rodgers Obusu, has huge potential.

While unveiling the youngster, who joined Simba wa Nairobi from Laiser Hill Academy, coach Muyoti said: “From what we have seen, he is a good lad and very promising."

"He has a lot of unique attributes as a left-footed player. He is a good addition to our setup. He is an asset with age on his side.”

The teenager was scouted during the Chapa Dimba Rift Valley regional finals in Nakuru in November 2023 and has been training with the team since December.

He signed a three-year deal.

Team coordinator Samson Otieno said the club will continue with their policy of giving young players a chance.

“It’s all about giving chances to the young players. He has the right qualities to operate on either side of the left channel as a defender or winger,” said Otieno.

Obusu said: “I am honoured to join Nairobi City Stars. It’s a big step and I wish to use this rare chance to showcase what I have for the benefit of the club.”

The young star, jersey no.24, will battle for the leftback slot with Dennis 'Decha' Wanjala and skipper Calvin Masawa.
