Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo has urged his charges to step on the gas peddle and fend off the intense competition posed by rivals on the top-flight stage.

Homeboyz, fourth on the log, flex muscles with Bidco United at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday. Odhiambo reckons a win might secure them a top-three position and set their title aspirations in motion.

“We have won three matches in a row and that is a huge boost for the team. We’ve prepared well for Bidco and I am looking forward to a positive result,” Odhiambo said.

He, however, insists it is still too early in the season to start talking about their title chances, adding that it's too difficult to predict the winner.

“It’s very difficult to predict what it will be like at the end of the season. Besides Posta Rangers and Gor Mahia, the other teams have been blowing hot and cold, attesting to the cutthroat nature of the competition,” he said.

Homeboyz head to their match against Bidco high on confidence after wringing out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars last weekend.

The win sent them to 21 points, four adrift of leaders Rangers.

“We need to try as much as we can to fight for maximum points in all the remaining matches, something that is very much achievable although not as easy as it might sound,” Odhiambo said. “We are not under any pressure though and shall be taking one game at a time.”
