Former Gaspo Women's head coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee has praised newly promoted side Bungoma Queens after their recent success in the Kenya Women's Premier League.

Despite a challenging start with a draw against Kibera Soccer Ladies and subsequent losses to Police Bullets (5-1) and Gaspo Women (1-0), Queens led by Robert Machio secured back-to-back wins against Bunyore Starlets (3-2) and Zetech Sparks (2-1).

"Bungoma, who are the new kids on the block, have surprised everyone in the league. Beating well-organized teams like Sparks and Bunyore Starlets is a very big deal, considering they just got promoted," said Ghost.

"Machio is a good coach and I think they can go very far in terms of league standings. Queens are bringing so much to the already competitive league," he added.

Commenting on his former side Gaspo, Ghost believes the team will finish on a high note despite their recent results.  Gaspo Women have lost three of the four matches played and are now in the relegation zone with just three points.

"It's quite a tight race but the league has just started. I was with the team during preseason, and I know they have the potential to do even better," he said.

“The women’s premier league is still early but very interesting. Vihiga started well, picking up points both at home and away. That is the way to go in the league,” he said.

While expressing the team's desire to secure a commendable finish, Mulee said: "Gaspo is the team that everybody wants to beat. They started very well.”

On his affiliation to Gaspo, the coach admitted his absence from the team this season but at the same time praised their prowess, citing their unbeaten zeal to take them places.

“I volunteered to coach Gaspo last season and also came in during preseason. I have not seen Gaspo for quite some time.  I do not know if I will be able to go back because I have other engagements," he concluded.
