The Confederation of African Football Caf Director of Member Associations, Sarah Mukuna has said it is important for the governing body to capacitate all its Member Associations.

This, she said, will ensure that they are well-equipped to run efficient and financially sound Associations that enjoy success both on and off the field.

Caf recently concluded a successful Governance and Finance Workshop with General Secretaries and Finance Directors of the Council of Southern  Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Zonal Union in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The three-day workshop took place between November 2 to 4 and saw the governing body of African football - led by its Member Associations Division, conduct an in-depth Governance and Finance workshop for the zonal union.

The key event is part of the ongoing efforts by Caf to achieve the objective of growing African football and making it globally competitive and self-sufficient, as envisioned by Caf President Dr Patrice Motsepe.

“The evolution of African football in recent times is quite exciting to witness, thanks to the tireless efforts being put in across all Caf divisions," Mukuna said.

"Equally so, it is important that this success is supported by an administration that is efficiently governed and financially sound. We are excited about this continental drive of ensuring that our Member Associations practice good governance, which has been proven to translate into success on the field of play.”

Caf is embarking on a continental drive across all its Member Associations to capacitate them in establishing efficient governance and sound financial practices within their respective associations.

The workshop covered key matters about the successful running of an association which included Legal and regulatory Frameworks, Conflict of interest, Financial Processes, Revenue Generation as well and Procurement Processes amongst others.

The Caf Governance and Finance workshops have been divided into four, with all 54 Member Associations being demarcated into English and French-speaking countries.

Caf will soon announce the date and details of the next workshops which are scheduled for 2024.
