KCB head coach, Bernard Mwalaa, remains steadfast in their pursuit of silverware despite their Kenya Premier League match against Muhoroni Youth being abandoned on Monday.

The game was abandoned after Muhoroni fans allegedly invaded the pitch and attacked the Bankers’ technical bench during stoppage time with the visitors leading 1-0 courtesy of Haniff Wesonga’s strike in the first half.

Mwalala said: “We are happy to win away from home under the most difficult circumstances. We expected a tough outing because Muhoroni is an equally good opponent."

He noted: “Our goal for the first leg was to maintain the top five positions and I believe we are on course. We believe it is a high to win silverware but we are aware no game is easy and we just have to be humble and work hard,” he added.

Mwalala described the league as a fast-paced marathon and urged his charges to keep up with the pace.

“The players are transitioning and adapting well. The league is like a marathon and as a team, you need to have depth to make the necessary adjustments. Our goalkeeper yesterday was a new signing and we are glad he was able to keep a clean sheet,” said Mwalala.

“We made changes in the defence and midfield and we hope to will use the international break to polish up some departments and encourage the players in the team who haven’t gotten a chance,” he added. The Bankers are set to face Ulinzi Stars after the international break.

The tactician, who once led Ulinzi Stars said: “We will be ready for Ulinzi Stars after the break. They had started badly but now they have picked up two wins in a row. It is going to be a tough match. We will work hard to get the three points because all matches are like a final to us.”

In regards to the abandoned game, FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee is expected to make a decision in coming days.
