After going four matches without a win in the FKF Premier League, Shabana coach Sammy Okoth is facing an uncertain future.
The coach has two games to save his job, according to a member of the club’s executive committee.
“If we can’t pick points against AFC Leopards on Saturday and Tusker the following week, I don’t think Okoth will remain as our coach,” said the executive official who sought anonymity.
He added: “We are not happy with the results so far. We have given the players and technical bench all the support and the results are unacceptable.”
He also wondered why the team kept conceding in the added time. “We have conceded four goals in the 90-plus minutes. Is this a coincidence? I wonder why the players can’t hold on until the final whistle,” added the angry official.
The team was booed off the field on Saturday after losing 1-0 to the visiting Kariobangi Sharks at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
Geoffrey Onyango scored a last-gasp goal for the Kariobangi Sharks to inflict the second loss on the Glamour Boys.
They lost their opening game against Muranga Seal and had identical 1-1 draws against Talanta FC and Kenya Police.
On conceding goals in the last minute, coach Okoth said: “It's very funny and this is a very difficult situation for me as a coach. I feel very uncomfortable and I don’t think there is anything I can do. Maybe We can have another person on board to see whether he can change the situation.”
The coach further blamed the loss against Kariobangi Sharks on several missed chances. “We created many chances but we did not utilise them,” he noted.
Shabana are 17th on the log with a paltry two points from four games and face AFC Leopards on Saturday at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
