Harambee Stars have arrived in Doha, Qatar ahead of their friendly match against Qatar scheduled for Thursday at 4:15 pm at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The 23-man squad plus coach Engin Firat and other technical staff were greeted and welcomed by Kenyan nationals living in Qatar.
The team will have a chance to familiarise themselves with the playing field later in the afternoon in preparation for the match on Thursday.
Speaking before the team jetted out of the country, Captain Michael Olunga warned his Al Duhail teammates who play for the national team that it will not be business as usual.
"There are four players on their national team from Duhail. It will be a good competition. I already told them we will not be friends during the game," Olunga said.
He further added that the match against Qatar would be a good test for the coming World Cup qualification matches.
"In the African football setup, we will go to play away to Ivory Coast and Gabon, and these are hostile environments, and we have to handle these kinds of pressure. It is a good friendly, and I am really looking forward to it," Olunga added.
Coach Firat also hopes that this friendly will be a way to fire up the squad and gauge their readiness ahead of the World Cup qualification matches.
“All these matches are to help us test different circumstances. We are playing a tough team, the Asian champions and it is long since Kenya played a tough team,” he said.
