Nzoia Sugar head coach Salim Babu has reiterated his desire to steer the side to a maiden topflight championship this season.

The millers dare Kariobangi Sharks in a do-or-die round of 31 Kenyan Premier League fixture at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma on Saturday and Babu reckons a win is crucial in keeping their title hopes alive.

Nzoia are third on the log, four points adrift of leaders and defending champions Tusker, who are seeking a second consecutive and 12th overall title.

"Only three points separate us from second-placed Gor Mahia and a win against Sharks could propel us to second position," Babu said.

Babu has vowed to lead an abrasive onslaught against a struggling Sharks side that head into the match on the back of a four-match winless streak.

There are only four matches left on the card before the season ends and Babu has warned his players against any sort of complacency despite their matchday opponents' dwindling fortunes in the competition.

"We are facing a well-organised opponent who enjoys sufficient depth. They have pulled off some surprises against the big names and it would be entirely misleading to underrate them," he said.

The gaffer has pledged to give Sharks a run for their money, saying they will leave no stone unturned in the crunch fixture that has a lot of bearing on their title charge.

"We are ready for them and our goal is to reap all three points. We have no option but to win the match if we are serious about winning the league this season," he said.

He reckons Nzoia enjoy enormous depth in their squad to wrap up the season on a high.

"We have very good players, who have justified their worth thus far. I expect them to maintain the good run and help us clinch the title for the first time I'm history," Babu said.

"We began the season aiming to maintain our top-flight status. Our performance has amazed everyone including ourselves. It's unbelievable that we are now among the top three title contenders," he concluded.

In other matches scheduled for Saturday, Mathare United have a date with KCB at Moi Stadium, Kasarani Annex.

Posta Rangers host Sofapaka at Nyayo Stadium as Bidco United host bottom-placed Vihiga United at Thika Stadium.

Bandari will flex muscles with Wazito while Talanta have a date with Kakamega Homeboyz.
