Kayole Starlets will hold trials for the under-20 players from May 31 to June 6 in preparation for an international invitational tournament in Mali this August.

The week-long exercise will take place at Calvary grounds, Komarock according to club chairman, Joshua Sakwa.

"We have been invited for the tournament in Mali this August and there's need to prepare a team for the event. The trials are meant to tap quality players who will represent us. It is a lifetime opportunity for the juniors," Sakwa said.

He added: "We are targeting players aged 19, 18 and 17 years who we believe have the potential to express their talent in the best possible manner".

Sakwa said already four players have made the cut from Kayole even as the process targets a total of 23 athletes for duty in the West African country.

"Four of our players have met the criteria," he pointed out.

Sakwa maintained that the U-20  assignment doesn't affect Kayole's senior team activities at all. The team will ply trade in the Division One league next season after relegation from the Women's Premier League.

"This is a tournament that is meant for the juniors. Those who will make the final team have the opportunity to be scouted in Europe. Our hope is that some of our talented players will be snapped up by top footballing nations abroad."

The former Kayole coach said after the trials, players will be given a one week break before resuming thorough residential training.

"We expect the players to kick-start rigorous training from June 15," he added.

Accommodation and food will be provided during the exercise. "It will be free and fair exercise and we expect athletes from all parts of the country to turn up in large numbers," Sakwa concluded.
