Nakuru City Queens team manager Benard Esitoko has said the team will channel all their energy into winning the Football Kenya Federation Women's Cup title after giving up on the league glory.

Esitoko's sentiments come a day after his charges defied the odds to beat Thika Queens 2-0 on Saturday to advance to the semi-finals where the enterprising side will face off against Kibera Soccer in the last four later this month.

Nakuru is nine points adrift of joint leaders Vihiga Queens and Gaspo Women with four matches left to the end of the WPL season. The pair have 40 points compared to Nakuru's 31.

"Our target at the start of the season was to win the league. However, recent losses against Ulinzi Starlets and Zetech Sparks diminished our chances of silverware," Esitoko said.

"We are one step away from reaching our first final. The semifinal clash with Kibera won't be a walk in the park but we have what it takes to sail through to the finals. We will channel all our energy to ensure that we win the Cup in order to salvage our season," he added.

Nakuru take on Eldoret Falcons in the league match on May 18 at the Kenyatta Stadium, Kitale.

"Beating Thika has restored the players' confidence that had hit an all-time low after two consecutive defeats. We will tackle Falcons with the right mentality. After that, we will have adequate time to prepare for the Kibera tie."

Kibera beat fellow Division One side Kahawa Queens 7-0. Nancy Atako scored four goals, Jerusa Mwende bagged a brace as Winnie Gwatende completed the rout.

Kisumu All Starlets edged out Royal Starlets 2-0.
