Migori Youth coach Wilson Omondi says the club is targeting the National Super League/Kenyan Premier League promotion and relegation play-off.

The club currently sit third on the NSL log and will on Wednesday battle it out with fifth-placed Mara Sugar at Migori Stadium, a game Omondi expects to be tough.

“It looks like the first and second positions are gone. The focus is on the playoff position, which we are fighting for alongside Mara Sugar and Gusii FC,” said Omondi.

“Mara Sugar have a game in hand but our focus is to win all our matches. The game against Mara is a derby and so I expect a thrilling encounter.”

Migori will welcome defensive kingpin Eric Majura, who missed two games due to suspension.

“His return is a big boost for us. I have a fully fit squad for the game and I want to appeal to our fans to turn up in large numbers to support us. We want to maintain the momentum,” added the tactician.

Mara Sugar coach Francis Xavier says he is also keen on the playoff place.

Migori Youth are third with 38 points from 22 matches, while Gusii and Mara are a point behind. However, Gusii have played 24 games while Mara have played 21.

Gusii will be in action on Thursday at Gusii Stadium against Mwatate United. Last Friday, Mwatate suffered a 1-0 loss to runaway leaders Shabana at Wundanyi Stadium.

Shabana will seek to extend their lead when they host sixth-placed Naivas at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday.

Second-placed Murang’a Seal welcome SS Assad at St. Sebastian Park hoping to bounce back to winning ways following their surprise barren draw against relegation-threatened Silibwet last weekend.
