Thika Queens' top striker Wendy Atieno is expected to return to training next week after suffering a head injury playing against Zetech Sparks two weeks ago.

Atieno, who is the Kenya Women's Premier League top scorer with 13 goals, missed last weekend's 1-0 win over Trans Nzoia Falcons.

The 27-year-old collided with Sparks' defender and had to be rushed to hospital for further medical attention after unsuccessful first aid treatment.

Thika coach Fred Majani initially feared that the red-hot forward would be sidelined for more than a month.

Majani assured that Atieno is well on a recovery course and will be available for selection in their next league match on March 25.

"It is a welcome boost for the team. Her recovery has been speedy and she will train with the rest of the group from Monday. Atieno's absence was felt despite beating Falcons," Majani said.
