As the country heads to the August general election, Mama Ida Odinga led the Azimio la Umoja brigade for campaigns in Khwireso constituency, Kakamega county.
The campaigns aimed at drumming up support for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and aspirants vying on the coalition ticket.
Mama Ida, while in Mulwanda, urged the locals to vote for Raila saying he has the capacity to revive the country’s ailing economy.
“Elect sober leaders who won’t derail our economy like your governor here (Oparanya) he has done a sober job,” She said.
“It’s only Baba who can do that, don’t be duped.”
Mama Ida had toured the Khwisero constituency where she commissioned a new library at Mulwanda secondary school.
She also donated sanitary pads to girls citing that they will help to sustain female learners in class.
Ida was in the company of Murangá Woman Rep Sabina Chege, Kakamega Woman Rep Else Muhanda, Nominated Mp Godfrey Osotsi, Butere MP Tindi Mwale, hot MP Aseka Miradi, ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and COTU boss Francis Atwoli among other leaders.
“What I am urging my people here in Kakamega is that you turn up in large numbers and vote for Raila,” she said.
On the same note, governor Oparanya said he is on the ground to seek votes for Raila.
He urged the locals not to vote for DP Ruto and his team citing that the duo are not in a position to win the presidency.
“If Wetang’ula knew they were winning the election he couldn’t have gone to vie for the Senate seat,” Oparanya said.
The county boss said Wetangula knew they are going to lose in this election and that is why he opted to defend his seat.
Chege on her part said it is time for Raila to win the presidency.
“Last time we were against Raila Odinga but this time we are there for him,” Sabina Chege said.
“So will you be going for the 70 per cent for 30 percent government share or you are going to vote for baba and get a share in government without conditions?” she posed.
