Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu's wife Lydia Mutambu has entered the race to unseat incumbent lawmaker Gideon Mulyungi.
Lydia said her decision to run followed pressure from constituents to end discrimination in service delivery.
She accused Mulyungi of neglecting residents of Nuu and Mui wards because "he thought they never supported him during the 2017 election and therefore should not get CDF allocation".
"Residents from Mui and Nuu wards have been sidelined by the current leadership as the MP believes he has poor support in those regions," Lydia said.
Those wards voted for Eric Mutua and Joe Mutambu who both lost to Mulyungi.
Lydia becomes the first female MP aspirant in Mwingi Central constituency since it was formed in 2013.
