Deputy President William Ruto plays traditional Kamba Nane instrument in campaigns in North Mugirango, West Mugirango and Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira County on February 10.

Are some allies of Deputy President William Ruto (pictured) trying to persuade a vocal an influential Jubilee legislator to return to UDA? She recently returned to the ruling party. Early this week, three MPs close to the DP had an intimate conversation with the MP who recently met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House. While the content of the discussion that lasted more than one hour was not immediately clear, some MPs whispered the DP’s men were trying to woo the legislator back to the hustler nation. The lawmaker enjoys massive following in her home county.

It seems a new political party that entered the political landscape with a bang is facing a financial crisis. Corridors has learnt the political outfit is in such dire straits that it has not been able to pay secretariat salaries for five months. Some top officials are reconsidering their continued stay in the party. Attempts by top party officials to convince sitting county bosses aligned to the party to chip in have backfired. Governors are said to have rejected committing public cash to party matters. Party honchos are now desperately looking for a sponsor to stay afloat.

Have three senior officials in a cosmopolitan county thriving on disorder been finally caught up with? Corridors has learnt that since a court issued a harsh verdict against them last month, very important services provided by their offices have been grounded. The trio was sued by a complainant and ordered by the court to pay the man huge sums of money but failed to do so. The court had ruled that the lot must pay the amount or go to jail. The formerly influential officials are now playing hide and seek with law enforcement officers with the hope that the matter will fade away. However, the order was categorical: The court demands feedback as soon as possible on how the issue will be resolved.

A prominent politician from the expansive Northeastern lost Sh80 million in a brokerage deal executed through a prominent lawyer from a county in the region. The politician is now at loggerheads with the  lawyer who was to use the cash to fix a deal in favour of the politician. The lawyer is claiming to have channeled the money for the intended purpose. However, the man is demanding a refund since the lawyer did not meet his side of the bargain. Those in the know say this is not the first time the lawyer is caught up in such a deal. Some years back, the lawyer, in a similar fashion, syphoned millions from a governor who was then troubled and sought his help.
