AFCON-2022

Mali set their sights beyond last 16

Mali are joint leaders with debutants Gambia in Group F.

In Summary

•Mali completed a 1-0 victory over Tunisia in a controversial Group F game at the Africa Cup of Nations that was ended prematurely by referee Janny Sikazwe, who later tried to play the final four minutes only for the north Africans to refuse.

•Two late penalties awarded after intervention by the Video Assistant Referee saw debutants Gambia hold Mali to a 1-1 draw at the Africa Cup of Nations in Limbe on Sunday as the teams stayed joint top of the Group F standings.

To the Africa Cup of Nations, and as the group games draw to an end, Mali are one of the last teams aiming to secure a place in the round of 16.

With their rejuvinated, vibrant squad, the Eagles hope that they will finally be able to bring the trophy back to Mali.
