Vihiga Queens' assistant coach Boniface Nyamunyamu has said he is ready for a full-time role in the team after guiding the Legacy Makers to victory in the Cecafa qualifiers for the Caf Women's Champions League last week.
Nyamunyamu has been the caretaker coach since late August after former coach Alex Alumira terminated his contract.
The 34-year-old Nyamunyamu wants the management to consider him for position because he has what it takes to propel the county-sponsored team to the next level.
The youthful tactician believes the rapport he has struck with the players and the five-year knowledge he has gained under Alumira is enough to propel the team to stardom.
" I have been with this team for five years and we have a cordial relationship with the players. I understand the philosophy that Alumira started and will continue with that football ideology. We have shared success as a team and the foundation laid is what has kept this team going."
He added: "Alumira prepared me for this role. His vast knowledge in women football and analytical skills makes him a special coach and I am ready to take the mantle from him."
Alumira officially took over Tanzania's Tiger Queens on Monday after bagging three national titles with Vihiga Queens.
Vihiga Queens' chief executive officer, Mike Senelwa, said the current coach will continue with the team until further notice.
Harambee Starlets coach Charles Okere worked alongside Nyamunyamu during qualifiers but Senelwa maintained that they will stick with the latter for the time being.
