Defending champions Gor Mahia opened a two-point gap at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table following a 3-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu, on Thursday.
Prior to the much-publicised match, Gor were a point ahead of their match-day opponents but goals from Francis Afriyie, Charles Momanyi and an own goal saw them consolidate their stay at the top with 21 points.
Ulinzi Stars are placed second with 19 points.
Meanwhile, Tusker, who were eyeing to keep close tabs with Gor played a ten-man Western Stima side to a two-all draw at the Ruaraka grounds.
The Brewers assistant coach, Charles Okere, took a swipe at his strikers for fluffing clear cut chances.
Despite enjoying a numerical advantage after Salim Odeka was sent off in the first half, Tusker had to come down twice to salvage a point and their third draw of the season.
Abdalla Wankuru gave Stima the lead in the 75th minute but Timothy Otieno replied two minutes later.
Second-half substitute Henry Onyango thought he had given Stima the winner in the 80th minute only for Humphrey Mieno to restore parity three minutes later.

Sharks, who were boosted financially hours to the game had their goals through Sydney Lokale and Erick Kapaito while Harun Mwale and Elvis Nandwa added on Wamalwa's brace to complete Ulinzi's rout.
