Central Bank of Kenya will next month hold an exhibition to showcase historical and present currencies in the country as part of celebrations to mark 50 years of its existence.

The banking industry regulator plans to hold a numismatic exhibition that is expected to attract many learners and coin collectors. Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects.

The event will be held in partnership with the National Museums of Kenya, the CBK said yesterday.

The exhibition opens on September 14.

The CBK has also sponsored this year's Kenya Music Festival as part of the 50-year celebrations.
