The atmosphere was electric Saturday morning at the Masinde Muliro stadium in Bungoma as Kenyans gathered for the 61st Madaraka Day celebrations.
They braved the cool morning air from as early as 5 am to secure their spots at the stadium.
By midmorning, the stadium was almost full, teeming with excited chatter and bright colors of the Kenyan flags.
