University of Nairobi Terrorists coach Eugene Genga is over the moon after his charges hammered United States International University 78-50 to secure a playoff spot.
The result saw the campus lads finish eighth on the log with 30 points.
The result boosted the team's morale ahead of the post-season games, where they are set to meet leaders Nairobi City Thunder in the quarter-finals.
"The win is huge for us. It solidifies our position as number eight and with that, a ticket for the playoffs," beamed Genga.
"For us, it's a motivation to reach the playoffs. It may sound small but for us, making the playoffs is a big deal."
Genga noted that it's been a tough season as they have undergone major changes on the roster after some players graduated.
After taking a close 29-25 lead at the break, Terrorists engaged another gear after the resumption, catching USIU off guard.
They blasted off to a 27-10 third-quarter advantage and iced it with another storming 22-15 cushion in the deciding stanza to cap a great afternoon.
"USIU have played 2-3 zone all year and most teams have struggled against their defence. We have had to work on our zone offence."
He added: "We knew if we beat their zone defence, we would have a good chance of beating them."
Jacob Aleo led the rout with a game-high of 25 points and Agulet Malek contributed 13 for UoN who now face Nairobi City Thunder. This had an extra spice as it was a university Derby match.
