Dream Girls and Multi Media University over the weekend claimed the 2023 Nairobi Basketball Association titles in the finals played at the Strathmore University Sport Complex.

To bag the women’s title, Dream Girls torched Titans 46-18 in a one-sided Game Four.

They had won Game Three 38-32 the previous day to take the best-of-five series 3-1. Titans won Game One and lost Game Two

“It was a strong game from my girls. We have too much experience and this showed in the end. We wanted to send a strong statement after losing the first game, and we did,” said coach Evelye Kedogo.

Winnie Wafula shot 12 points and Ruth Akinyi and Laveta Kaylee managed a combined 15 for the new champions. Titans were led by Truphosa Mochache, who recorded eight points in the loss.

MMU, on the other hand, swept Don Bosco 3-0 after winning Game Three 52-38. A strong display in the deciding quarter saw them blow away their opponents 22-11. They took a close 25-22 first-half margin.

“Give credit to the boys. This game was not easy at all especially after we were engaged in another tough Game Two that left us bruised and battered the other day. We have worked hard for this,” said MMU’s coach Joseph “Selector” Ondinyo.

Jeremiah Halwenge tallied 20 points and Timothy Gombe added 14 for the Rongai-based students who lost only two games all the way to the finals. John Henry provided the losers with 12 points.

MMU decimated Don Bosco 74-55 in Game One last week before posting a close 65-61 in Game Two on Saturday. They have lost only two games the whole season.
