Former National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) 3,000m steeplechase champion Edwin Kibichiy has shifted his training base from Trans Nzoia to Eldoret ahead of De Paris 10km race and Bilbao Night Half Marathon next month.

De Paris 20km race in France on October 9 while Bilbao Half marathon in Spain is scheduled for October 22.

Kibichiy, who has dominated in short road races, especially in the USA is currently training in Eldoret alongside two-time Los Angeles Marathon champion John Kipkosgei Korir.

Kibichiy said he has intensified training ahead of the two assignments.  He said training with Korir is an advantage for him now that the latter will be competing at the Chicago Marathon on October 9.

" I am using this high-intensity training as a way of gaining stamina and endurance for the upcoming events," he said.

He added: “The training for the two races is good and as teammates, we are planning for good results come that day after dominating in track.”

Kibichiy said they became friends with Korir while studying in Louisville University, Kentucky in the United States. "I was introduced to him through his brother and former Boston Marathon champion Wesley Korir.

“We shifted from Trans Nzoia to Iten in a bid to focus on training considering the profiles of the assignments ahead," he noted.
