Korir, Kimosong storm to 3000m finals

Kimosong won in Heat 2 after clocking 7:55.60 to edge out Eritrea’s Habtom Samuel to second position in 7:56.70.

Kenya's Felix Korir and Edwin Kimosong won their respective heats to sail to the 3000m final at the ongoing World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.

In Heat One, Korir clocked 7:58.12 to relegate Uganda’s Dan Kibet to second place in 7:59.71 as Ethiopia’s Melkeneh Azize settled for third in 8:00.37.

Kimosong won Heat Two after clocking 7:55.60 to edge out Eritrea’s Habtom Samuel to second in 7:56.70. Ethiopia’s Dirima Girma settled for third in 7:57.16.  

In the 3,000m steeplechase, Emmanuel Wafula clocked 8:49.57 in his heat to settle for second place.

Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu won the heat in 8:49.27 while Japan’s Ryotaro Onuma placed third in 9:00.02.   

Ethiopia’s Samuel Duguna ran away with the third heat in 8:44.83. Kenya’s Haron Kibet (8:47.25) and Czech’s Tomas Habarta (8:47.36) settled for second and third respectively.
