• In the 400m hurdles, William Mbevi was the fastest in Heat One when he clocked 54.3. Richard Nzioka was second in 55.3 as Abel Kirwa took third in 59.7.

David Kimaiyo powered to victory in the 10,000m at the Athletics Kenya track and field meeting held in Mumias on Friday.

Kimaiyo clocked 28:49.36 ahead of Wesley Kimutai (28:53.64) as Charles Korir rounded off the podium positions in 28:55.36.

Charles Yosei came home fourth in 28:59.34 ahead of Wilfred Kimitei (29:04.22) as former Olympic and World 1,500 champion Asbel Kiprop placed sixth in 29:10.82.

Josephine Chelangat won the women's 1,500m race in 4:05.4 with Judith Kiyeng placed second in 4:07.0. Monica Margaret came home third in 4:09.5, edging out Nelly Chepchirchir (4:11.8).

In the 400m hurdles, William Mbevi was the fastest in Heat One when he clocked 54.3. Richard Nzioka was second in 55.3 as Abel Kirwa took third in 59.7.

In the men's long jump, Gilbert Pkemoi carried the day with a leap of 7.28m as Issac Kirwa hopped 7.19m for second place. Too was placed third in 7.13.

Marine Wafula topped the women's category with a 5.48m jump to beat Regina Mulaiya (5.36m) and Esther Mbagari (5.02m).

In the women's 100 m hurdles, Jane Chege clocked 15.4 as Veronica Chebet came second in 16.4. Novena Chevnom finished third in 19.1.

Chege clocked a sluggish 63.4 to win the women's 400 m hurdles final as Agnes Mutual (63.5) and Winnie Jelegat (65.6) trailed her.
