Kenya's Diana Kipyogei led a 1-2-3 Kenyan sweep of podium places at the Boston Marathon as she timed 2:24:50 for her first marathon win of her career.

Two-time champion Edna Kiplangat finished second in 2:25:09 whereas 2007 Africa Junior 5,000m champion Mary Ngugi came third in 2:25:20.
Just half an hour earlier, Prague Marathon champion Benson Kipruto set the tempo with a masterclass run to cut the tape in 2:09:51.
Kipruto surged forward into the lead at the 22km mark just when it seemed as if American CJ Albertson was on course to write one of the greatest storylines of the Boston Marathon with what seemed an insurmountable lead.
