Murang’a Seal head coach Osborne Monday is striking a bullish tone ahead of their mid-week clash against joint SportPesa League leaders Posta Rangers at Kasarani Annex on Thursday afternoon.

The Murang’a-based outfit have endured a shaky start to the season, managing just one win from five outings.
Seal began the season with a 1-0 defeat to Ulinzi Stars before bouncing back with a convincing 2-0 victory over league debutants APS Bomet.

But their momentum quickly fizzled out, as they slumped to back-to-back defeats—3-1 to Bandari and 2-1 to Sofapaka.
In their most recent outing, they suffered a 1-0 loss to Tusker, with Eric Kapaito’s 76th-minute strike proving decisive.

Despite their barren run, Monday remains unwavering in his belief that his side can flip the script and tame the high-flying mailmen.
“As coach, I am positive,” Monday said.

“It all depends on our training. When we get it right on the training ground, we will get it right on matchday.”

Rangers, meanwhile, are riding a wave of momentum after a bright start to the campaign. The mailmen have three wins, a draw and a defeat from their opening five matches.

They opened their season with back-to-back 2-1 wins over Mathare United and Tusker, before drawing 2-2 with AFC Leopards and edging Shabana 2-1.
Their unbeaten run, however, was halted brutally as they suffered a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of record champions Gor Mahia.

Ben Omondi, Austine Odhiambo and Felix Oluoch all found the net in that encounter.
Last season’s meetings between Seal and Rangers produced fireworks, with the sides sharing the spoils over two legs.

Seal secured a 1-0 victory in the first encounter before Rangers hit back with a thrilling 3-2 triumph in the reverse fixture.

Monday said the team has drawn valuable lessons and is steadily finding its rhythm.
“We have seen a lot of positives despite the losses, and the boys are still working hard,” he noted. “It’s just a matter of time until everything clicks.”

The tactician lauded his defensive unit but lamented the lapse in concentration that cost them against Tusker.
“In our last game, we managed to hold out for 70 minutes. Our transition was not good; we lost the ball in our own half while our fullbacks were high up the pitch, and the opponent capitalised,” he explained.

Monday emphasised the need for greater aggression and urgency in regaining possession.
“It’s a matter of concentration; when we lose the ball in transition, the player closest to it must be more aggressive in closing down the opponent," he said.
The Seal boss also called for sharper finishing in the final third.

“We have been working hard in training to be more clinical in front of goal,” he said. “Against Tusker, we created chances but couldn’t convert. We need to go back to the drawing board and sharpen our finishing.”
