Bondo’s Akello retains KATTISO chairmanship as new officials elected

Akello beat Keroka Technical Institute’s (TTI) Peter Bett during the elections held at Ciala TTI in Rongo, Migori County.

Peter Akello of Bondo Technical Training Institute (TTI) has retained his seat as chairman of the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions Sports Organisation (KATTISO) after narrowly defeating Peter Bett of Keroka TTI.

At the elections held at Ciala TTI in Rongo, Migori County, Akello garnered 16 votes against Bett’s 14.

Meshack Owino beat Calvin Omwoyo by a similar margin—16 to 14 in the vice chairman’s race.

Willice Odoyo of Uriri Technical and Vocational Institute is the new Secretary General, taking over from Edward Sogoni, who was transferred from the region. Odoyo received 16 votes, defeating Henry Awegi (14). Rose Bundi was elected Vice Secretary.

Jane Ayodi was elected treasurer unopposed, and will be deputised by Vincent Omune, unopposed.

Kennedy Ondieki is the Publicity Officer, beating Cornel Onyango 18 to 11. Evelyn Budo is the new Deputy Publicity Officer after beating Michael Ajwala 19–11.

Arthur Obeto was elected Public Relations Officer unopposed. He will be deputised by Evelyn Chepkemoi, who beat Ken Mayodi 16–14.

Alice Nafula was elected Special Needs Education category representative with 16 votes, edging out Kevin Naliali (14).

Speaking after the vote tally, Odoyo said: “I am deeply honoured and grateful. I look forward to serving with dedication, transparency, and unity. Together, we shall uplift the level of sports both regionally and nationally.”

He announced that Ciala TTI will host the Season One Regional Games, featuring football, handball and volleyball (men and women).

Tough competition is expected from Keroka, Kisii, Mawego, Siaya, Kisumu and Nyamira National Polytechnics.

Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT), Orogare, Siala and Uriri are also in the mix.
